MATT NATHANSON, November 7, 2008
Matt was one of the friendliest artists to come through the Hollingshead Eye Center listener lounge. He seated himself at the table with our winners, and chatted with everyone. He spoke with his mouth full, spitting cookie crumbs everywhere as he talked. Not since the X session with Apocalyptica, have I seen an artist with such a sweet tooth! (Apparently Red Vines do not exist in Finland, and are quite a delicacy here.) Matt grabbed handfuls of iced cookies and went on and on about them. He seemed very sweet and child-like, with an amazing sense of humor. He played a beat-up Martin acoustic guitar. Once his music began, he seemed to go somewhere else and the music swelled through him. He reminded me of the class clown who in reality has amazing depth and wisdom. Here is an in-studio performance of his song All We Are.
