Tyrone Wells Concert For Cause 2013
Tyrone gives the best boy hugs. He always shows up, throws his things down, runs into the recording room and throws his arms around me in the warmest, genuine embrace. After fighting with a metal band in a session last week, this is such a welcome change! Tyrone is our friend, and it made perfect sense to have him fly in to perform at our Concert For Cause this year!
Tyrone did a wonderful job at our Concert For Cause, morphing some cool current cover tunes in with his originals while playing at The Knitting Factory. His song was first on our live session auction CD we only sell yearly at this event. The first CD I made for this went for $300, so we kept making them. Last night we sold 2 of them at $2000 each, raising $4000 on that item alone for the Women’s and Children’s Alliance! The 2 auction winners will also get admission into every studio session we have in 2014, and that is priceless! These videos take you backstage to see, but there’s no way to describe what it’s like to be there in person.
The silent auction was fun and we had some generous bidders. It was fun to see people clutching their gift baskets close to them after they had won, and to see the winner wearing her new handmade ZZ Ward hat at the bar.
$20,000 was raised through the auctions.
Tyrone has a new Christmas Album out too. He did a song from it, forgot a few words and was so fun to watch as he came back to remembering them! Santa heard him struggling and came in to comfort him at the end.
