The Idaho Ho Ho CD is a yearly tradition from our friends at Moxie Java, and Audio Lab Studio. It features local musicians playing their holiday music, and proceeds benefit the Idaho Foodbank.

Calico took a break from their school day to come in. Most members are currently students of Boise High. Vocalist Ruby has a beautiful and unique voice, it will be interesting to follow her music career over the years. Calico gave us this wonderful song from the CD.

Edmond Dantès made a quick band changeover during the commercial break. We see some familiar faces in this group. Ryan Peck, Andrew Stensaas, J Todd Dunnigan. Check out their Facebook page. Hear and download Edmond Dantes music here.

Sound checking the sessions with a go-time at noon is always fun and full of surprises. It’s one of my favorite parts about the sessions, making equipment and patches work before going live. A tech came to me concerned and with big eyes. “We have…a phone.” “Excuse me?” “These guys wanna use a phone to play a backing track.” Ten ‘til? No problem! We have many speaker and cable choices, and get them set up. It is at this point I am thankful and sad. I’m thankful I know what to hook up and how to tell the techs, but I notice Rocky is not in today and his retirement looms in the future. He is the one who has taught me much of how to improvise. We have many brilliant engineers, but Rocky’s brain goes where mine does and beyond. As for live music, he really gets it.

This song features music from our friend Steve Fulton, via phone!
