PICKWICK at the Record Exchange
So, THIS happened the other day. Have you heard about Pickwick?
See what they did with that Lou Reed song? Pickwick brought their WALL OF SOUND to the Record Exchange for a free in-store performance. This Seattle band has been in town a few times, for Alive After 5, and also Treefort Music Fest. BTW, Treefort will be March 20-23rd, 2014.
We’d had them scheduled for an in-studio performance a few weeks ago, but had some brief-but-hellish computer problems that made us cancel. If you know our love for live sessions, you know this was heartbreaking! I had to head down to The Record Exchange for a Tuesday afternoon performance.
Pickwick opened later for Neko Case. Their show has so much sound and energy, they had the crowd worked up right away. They were very appreciative of Neko, and the singer headed straight to the merch table as soon as their set was done. The merch girl made a singing appearance on stage and did a great job, maybe they’ll add another member?
Lead singer Gallon Disston is no stranger to the road. Their SXSW appearances had them doing 8 shows in 4 days! Their album Can’t Talk Medicine, is one to own.
MUCH love the The Record Exchange for continuing to provide free live music. Thanks also to Dave, the sound guy, for providing me some board audio to mix in with the live. He says they've purchased some great P.A. equipment, and the in-store sessions will continue! Tim says to look forward to the Frightened Rabbit in-store September 27th.
