So here's a short BIO about me. They don't call me ol' man river for nothing. I've been doing this radio thing for about 30 years, give or take a few. I've worked a lot of formats in that time, everything from country to rock, and have created ad characters that were interesting and fun to do.
It all started in college when BSC (now BSU) needed a voice and I needed a project. With lots of work from other students and myself, we got approval for one signal and started broadcasting from an antenna high atop the student union building. The whole station was run by a bunch of crazy students and I got to be the first zoo keeper - er, general manager.
After college I caught the radio bug and worked at bunches of radio stations including "Super 58 KFXD". If you've been around here since the 70's you'll know what I'm talking about, otherwise probably not. Needless to say, few radio stations had the kind of popularity that KFXD had back in the day it truly was a big deal.
What I love about the River...
With the River, you get a blend of some of the classics I grew up with like Elton, The Beatles, Hendrix, etc. and some brand new stuff from artists like Jason Mraz, Brandi Carlisle, KT Tunstall and more. We will also feature local artists from time to time (no other radio station in Boise can make that claim). I also like the fact that even though the station is a commercial enterprise, we work very hard at being a community orientated station. We involve ourselves in activities like Rake Up Boise, Paint The Town, Toys For Tots, and even some home brewed promotions like Concert For Cause. For me, working at the River is like having my cake and eating it too.
